Did you know that you can recycle your prescription glasses – Clear or sun glasses and do it locally? You can donate your glasses whether they are: Outdated, broken, single lens, etc., to our local Springville Mountain Lions Club who will then send them on to their International Headquarters for recycling.
Lions Clubs International collects millions of eyeglasses each year to address the need for glasses, making eyeglass recycling one of their most popular activities.
There is a great need for glasses as over 153 million people have uncorrected refractive errors (Near-sightedness, far-sightedness or astigmatism). Most of these vision impairments are quickly diagnosed and easy to treat with corrective lenses.
Millions of people in developing nations are pushed deeper into poverty simply because they don't have glasses.
It costs Lions Clubs International less than $0.08 to provide a pair of recycled eyeglasses and change someone's life.
The eye glass journey: Donate – Receive and sort: Separating the sun glasses from prescription glasses, single lenses, and broken frames from intact frames. Determine the prescription by using a lensometer. Clean and pack by prescriptions. Store until requested by an eye glass dispensing mission.
The first day of the mission, men, women and children have their eyes tested, fitted for glasses, tested again and help fit the glasses to the face of the individual.
